Driving Experience Courses

£295.00 (Steam), £260.00 (Diesel) per person

The day's experience is based at the Cafe on Platform 2 at Bolton Street Station, Bury, (starting at 8-30am and finishing at 4-30pm).

On arrival coffee/tea and biscuits will be served while you register, this will be followed by a video on footplate instruction and safety before you get fitted out with overalls and gloves. You will then be split into two groups

One group will go with the locomotive and the other group will go on the guided tour after lunch the groups change over. The Group with the locomotive & Coaches will each have a round trip between Bury and Ramsbottom Driving, Firing & guarding.

The other half of the day comprises of a guided tour of the Locomotive Works, Carriage Restoration Works and Bury South Signal box. The day concludes about 4.30pm when you will be presented with a certificate to commemorate your day's experience.

Your families or friends can also take part in the guided tour for a £4.50 charge. Children are not allowed on the guided tours or able to travel in the coaches behind the locomotive. The lunch is provided free for you but extra meals can be booked for friends and family these will cost £8.50 per person,
